NFL Week 10 Picks...Now With No Rumsfeld!

*I tell ya. Vegas really has me scratching my head this week. I mean, usually I just sit back and accept the fact that they know more than I do, but this time I must speak up. Now before I say what I have to say, just let me clear up that I do know that betting lines are created to maximize the action on the game and doesn't always reflect the skill of the two teams playing. That being said, how on earth are the New Orleans Saints (6-2) almost 5 point dogs to the Pittsburgh Steelers (2-6)? I understand the Steelers are playing at home, but they are merely 2-2 at Heinz field this season and are coming off an 11 point home loss to the Broncos. To make matters worse, the Saints sport a 3-1 road record in '06 and are coming off a 17 point victory last week in Tampa. So what's with the Steelers being the favorites? God, I mean I know I hate the Black and Gold more than any other, but this isn't just me seeing this is it? Talk about giving the defending champs a lot of respect. Maybe the boys making the book heard that Joey Porter guaranteed a win and that was good enough for them, you never know. So, needless to say, I'm taking the Saints this week, but they are the only dogs on my list and actually the only pick I can justify with stats like the ones I just gave you (although the Pats have won 8 straight against the J-E-T-S and the Chiefs are 5-1 in their last 6 including 2-1 on the road). As for the rest, how do 3 road favorites and a double digit Patriot spread sound? Road favorites have burned me all season, but I never learn. And I'm glad, cuz what fun would that be?*
