NFL News, Notes and Week 2 Picks

** After a nice start to the season, I actually had an easier time picking games that I liked this week. Is that a good thing? We will just have to wait and see **

Week 2 Picks
Tampa Bay Bucs (-2) over Buffalo Bills
Atlanta Falcons (+1) over Seattle Seahawks
Kansas City Chiefs (-1) over Oakland Radiers
Miami Dolphins at New York Jets under 37
San Diego Chargers (+3) over Denver Broncos

Monday Night
Washington Redskins (+6) over Dallas Cowboys
New York Giants (-3) over New Orleans Saints

Record: 4-1-0
Monday Night: 1-0-0

NFL News and Notes
* Two major injuries last weekend with Kris Jenkins (DT Carolina) and Javon Walker (WR Green Bay) going out for the season with torn ACL's. This means, as much as I would like to, I can not change my Super Bowl prediction, even though with Jenkins going down, the Panthers will need to step up big time to account for his absence. I have him ranked as the second best D-lineman in the NFL behind Richard Seymour, and a player like that is extremely difficult to replace. As for Walker, well the Packers weren't really going anywhere this year, so all this does is make his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, squirm a little, which can't be a bad thing.

* Jim Klecko, the former Jets DT and father of NE Patriot Dan Klecko, killed a bum when he hit him with his car on the Eagen Expressway.....just throwing that out there. And oh yea, he wasn't drunk and he hung around to wait for the police.

* After being ejected from the Monday Night game before it started for fighting, Atlanta Falcons CB Kevin Mathis may have suffered a career ending injury on Wednesday during practice. While defending a pass during a drill Mathis came down wrong on his leg and tore several ligaments including his ACL. Let this be a lesson to you all that what goes around comes around! Yea I'm not even sure that saying fits in this situation, but you see where I was goin.

* To quote Larry Johnson, "This is something I don't want to be named for as a woman beater because that is not my M.O. That is not how I was raised." Hey Larry I have a brainstorm. If you don't want to be labeled a wife beater, don't beat your wife! P.S. I have $20 that says Larry Johnson has no idea what M.O. stands for.

Boston Red Sox Recap
Record: 86-61
Standings: 1.5 game lead on NY Yankees with 15 games remaining

**The Sox lost a coin flip this week, so if the Yankees and Red Sox were to tie for the American League East title, the tie-breaker would be held at Yankee Stadium.**
